Dave Carter is an animator-director who works in stopframe animation (paper cutouts and clay) and 2D (Flash, Photoshop and After Effects).
Daveʼs filmography as director for series include Billy and the Bitch (commissioned by Mondo Media), Psychotown (commissioned by Mike Judge for the touring theatrical animation showcase The Animation Show), a pilot titled Sock Me Off for Blue Ant Media, a pilot series for ABCʼs ʻFresh Bloodʼ titled Bin Chickens, and currently Psychotown (series II) for the FX network.
In short films, Dave directed a full-funded Screen Australia commissioned short called Fish With Legs (Best Australian Animation Flickerfest 2017) voiced by Frank Woodley and Barry Otto. To date Dave has had his films shown at numerous film festivals from California (Santa Barbara International Film Festival 2017) to the French Alps (Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2010) to Quebec (Fantasia International Film Festival 2009) and locally, at the Sydney Film Festival (Finalist 2010). Dave was given a complete retrospective of his films at Fest Anca in Slovakia and his works are included in the National Film and Sound Archives for preservation.
Daveʼs works have been screened on ABC, SBS, Channel V, MTV Australia,
and internationally on MTV USA, Comedy Central, JASH, Canadaʼs BiteTV
and on the Verizon mobile network.
